MTNA Performance Competitions

Music Teachers National Association holds annual competitions that recognize exceptionally talented young artists. The state competitions are considered the primary educational level, with the division and national levels showcasing outstanding performances.

When: November 4-6, 2011

Entry deadline: Midnight, September 13, 2011
Registration: Visit MTNA.org to register your students, and use the new online system at WSMTA.net, to pay the state's participation fee. Note: Your MTNA dues must be paid, to participate and to use these online systems.

Winners of the November competitions will compete at the Northwest Division level, in January.
When: January 13-15, 2012
Where: University of Montana, Missoula.

Winners of the Northwest Division competition will compete at the national level. More information is available online at mtna.org.

WSMTA Outstanding Artist Competition

This competition provides another opportunity for Washington state's talented pianists. It runs concurrently with the MTNA Competition. Its goal is to serve as a positive, initial step for students wanting to compete in the MTNA Performance Competition in future years.

MTNA Composition Competitions

This annual competition encourages creativity and self-expression in student musicians through the art of composing. Complete information is available at mtna.org.
